PRICE
£126 per person, which covers the cost of the training, nothing else.
Included is a resources pack, access to mentor training PowerPoints, a coordinator manual and six mentor manuals.
Light refreshments will be provided on the day, but lunch, travel or accommodation are not included.
TRAINING DAYS
1. Day 1 of XLM Training focuses on how to manage an XL-Mentoring project and includes: Understanding mentoring, aims & objectives, structures & timescales, best practice, volunteer management, securing mentees, securing mentors, supporting the mentoring relationship, family support, risk assessment, and child protection.
2. Day 2 of XLM Training focuses on mentoring, and train up your mentors and includes: Exploring youth culture, issues facing young people, how to develop a mentoring relationship, dealing with challenging and negative behaviour, how to set goals, types of communication, building trusting relationships, safeguarding, and boundaries, and responsibilities.
The two-day training is designed to equip and resource churches and youth work charities to run their own sustainable mentoring projects, where they can invest in and support vulnerable young people in their community. You will learn how to:
· recruit and train volunteer mentors
· assess young people referred through relationships with local schools and / or other organisations
· match and introduce mentor and mentee
· provide ongoing support to both
· monitor and supervise the mentoring relationship as it develops
