Dear Friends,

You may have heard and seen the news about the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa across the Caribbean and Central America this week. Our partners and Street Pastor team in Jamaica have been keeping us informed about the issues and status of support that is being needed and will be required to help in the aftermath of this hurricane particularly in the west of Jamaica and communities in the north too.

Our friends and key partner, Operation Save Jamaica (OSJ – Operational body for Street and School Pastors in Jamaica), have experience in providing relief and care packages in partnership with agencies and services on the ground. When Hurricane Beryl hit Jamaica in 2024, OSJ and others mobilised to:

  • Distribute 1090 care packages in the first week
  • 2000 care packages were to 20 communities hit hardest by Beryl.
  • 47 business owners helped to rebuild and start afresh
  • OSJ and partners continue to play a crucial role in helping those impacted by Beryl return to stable operations by collecting data and monitoring efforts to see what needs are still required to be met.

OSJ and partners will be looking to provide the same level of support and service to those hit hardest by Hurricane Melissa. For anyone who is able and willing to contribute to this effort, please donate to Ascension Trust who will be able to get the funds directly to the efforts of OSJ and the work they are doing on the ground.

100% of all money raised in this effort will be sent directly to OSJ and used to support those most in need at this time.

We continue to stand in prayer with all those who are in need and impacted by these events at this time.
