Board of Trustees
Below are the profiles for our Board of Trustees. The trustees, appointed by the Ascension Trust, are from a diverse background with the relevant skill set required to advance the goals of the Trust and fulfil the Trust's responsibilities to the Charity Commission.
The trustees are responsible for:
- Overseeing the work of the Chief Executive and the management of the Trust
- Agreeing the strategy for the development and growth of the Trust
- Ensuring that the Ascension Trust meets its legal responsibilities
- Ensuring sound financial management of the Ascension Trust
- Responding to suggestions, issues and concerns raised by Management Committees.
Rev. Les Isaac
Rev. Isaac is the CEO of Ascension Trust which he founded in 1993. Widely called Les, he is married to Louise, a school teacher, and has two children. His mission is to train and develop individuals to serve their local community, city, nation and nations of the world. He co-launched an innovative project with Revd David Shosanya, a Baptist Minister and a Detective Constable Ian Crichlow called "Street Pastors" which provides a late night outreach service in high crime areas to tackle the issue of guns, knives and violent crimes on the streets of Britain.
Les has been interviewed on Radio and TV and regularly meets with Parliamentarians and high ranking Police Officers to discuss and contribute his vast experience and knowledge to community issues. He is one of Britain's most influential black church leaders. He has written three books to-date entitled 'Dreadlocks', 'Relevant Church' and 'Street Pastors'. Les, a minister for over 30 years, is now the associate minister of Christian Life Fellowship, a lively church in Greenwich with branches in Brixton, Medway and Croydon.

Susan is a Baptist Minister in Cardiff. She was previously Senior Pastor of Chatsworth Baptist Church in West Norwood and a Lambeth Borough Dean, then Minister at Blackheath and Charlton Baptist Church. She has been involved in management teams for Street Pastors in West Norwood/Gypsy Hill and in the Borough of Greenwich, and now serves as a Street Pastor in Cardiff.
Rev. Jimi AdeleyePastor of Romford Christian Centre, Apostolic Church, formerly senior civil servant in the Cabinet Office. His church reaches out to the community with a special focus on the disadvantaged.
Mr Femi LadegaDirector of Strategic Engagement CSC Healthcare EMEA. Femi is a highly experienced international Business and Technology executive with extensive experience gained through various global consulting, enterprise architecture, business and IT transformation, and outsourcing engagements.
Mrs Rhona Lawrie-GoveiaBaptist minister married to the Pastor of Rye Lane Chapel, Peckham, London. Rhona has a Masters in Human Resources and regularly advises companies on equality and diversity, and equal opportunities for women. She is a member of the Executive Board for the Caribbean Examination Council.
Dr Chichi EkhatorExperienced GP with specialist interest in paediatrics, child health and medical education. Member of Royal College of General Practitioners and of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Chichi is involved in community projects including the Afro-Caribbean Leukemia Trust and has led health missions abroad bringing health professionals to help alleviate poverty in many communities.
Mr Moses MbakweA highly qualified and experienced commercial accountant with experience in Africa, the Netherlands and the UK. Moses established his own practice in the UK in 2005 serving small business start-up and enterprise start-up.
Mr Emmanuel KoduaEmmanuel worked for several years as a Logistics Coordinator for the British Army. After his B.A. degree and post-graduate Diploma in Law, Emmanuel completed his professional examinations to qualify as a solicitor.
